Sibilings in the heart of Burgundy
The family Imprint
Neither Colette nor Gustave Gros had children. One of their nephews, Bernard, joined them in 1980 to learn the profession of winegrowing by their sides. At the early death of Gustave in 1984, Colette partnered with her nephew, who was only 22 years old at the time. For more than thirty years, Bernard Gros restructured and replanted the vineyards. He was joined by his two children, Elodie and Vincent, who were just as young as Bernard was when he became apart of the Domaine. He handed over the Domaine to them in 2010. The 7th generation thus perpetuates the imprint “Brother and Sister”, a distinctive sign of the Domaine for more than 60 years, as is the quality of their wines from Vosne-Romanée, Grands Crus of Burgundy.
More than 190 Years in Vosne-Romanée
A Born Passion
The story began more than 190 years ago with Alphonse Gros, born in 1804 in a small village in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits. Founder of the Domaine in 1830, he was the first of the family, with his wife Julie, to produce the great wines of Vosne-Romanée.
Next, his son Louis-Gustave, a precursor, was one of the first wine growers of the Côte de Nuits to bottle his wine for sale directly to individuals.
Their descendants, from generation to generation, grew and refined the vineyards. Today, the Domaine Gros Frère & Sœur relies on a team of thirteen people year-round, with a wide range of strengths and skills, committed to each step, from the vines to the marketing of our wines.
